Watch Out: How Robots That Vacuum And Mop Is Taking Over The World And What We Can Do About It

Robots That Vacuum and Mop

Robots that vacuum and mop offer the convenience of removing dry debris (dust, dirt) and wet mess (spills or staining) in one go without the need to change devices. They also can save space compared to two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.

A good combination bot must have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Find models that automatically empty their bins and fill up their water tank and machine-wash their mopping pads using a dedicated dock.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It's one of the simplest robots to install that we've tested. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. The mops spin at high speeds and apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

For instance, you could decide to let the robot do a deep clean in the living and kitchen but go easy on the spare bedroom. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are also excellent, with the robot being capable of detecting tiny obstacles that other models struggle with. Its only drawback is that it tends to smash into walls and other objects at full speed - but an instant glance at the history of cleaning within the app will show you exactly what it's doing as well as where it's heading and what obstacles it's avoided.

The docking station has an LCD display that displays the need for maintenance, such as emptying debris and cleaning the dirty water tank. It can also mix detergent into the tank by itself, using a 600ml eufy solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop is able to run for 184 mins in Quiet Mode, and the vacuum can last 136 mins in normal mode, before needing recharging or returning to the base. You can view the full cleaning details in the app, which is intuitively laid out and easily understood however we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a mop only vacuum and mop and vacuum clean when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the latest version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. This year's model has two agitators built into its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model.  robot vacuum reviews  has an improved suction capacity that allows it to pick up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners may miss.

The Roborock model, like the other two I tested is equipped with infrared and 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it get around obstacles like furniture, walls, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces.  robot vacuum cleaners reviews  can then automatically change its path and clean around the objects without a pause.

It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested however it also comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular design is attractive and it only has three physical buttons which include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop-only button that doubles as a child lock and a home button that can bring the robot back to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid, you will find the 350ml dust bin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank self-empties and the bin auto-filling.

The only drawback I could find to this model was that the VibraRise mop pads mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary), it's a pain to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've found any plush carpet that the robot touches will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mounts, which could cause abrasions.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a variety of intelligent features including support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. You can manage and set up these through the Roborock app which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you plan cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. You'll need to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with incredible suction power, sophisticated mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features.  best robot vacuum cleaner  allows for customized and efficient cleaning while saving you time.

The X40 robot vacuum cleaner is the first to offer 12,000 Pascals cleaning power. It is one of the most powerful choices available. This powerful vacuum is able to clean up pet hair, crumbs and other dry mess. It has a mop of high quality that cleans hard floors without the use of a pad. Additionally, the X40 is quiet in operation, only producing occasional bursts of noise when switching between modes or when completing self-maintenance tasks.

Another standout feature is the X40's extendable and liftable side brush which allows it to get into hard-to-reach corners and intimately clean curved furniture like table and chair legs. It can also get under low-profile furnishings which makes it an ideal option for smaller apartments or condos. The side brush tilts automatically down when it detects wet spots. This is a great feature that enables the X40 to avoid damaging floors by repeated back-and-forth movements.

Unlike some other robots that only focus on one thing, the X40 is capable of performing both vacuuming and mopping at the same time or individually. It can also be programmed to eliminate areas with carpets and mop only hard floors, and reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is simple and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are simple to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, look at mapping and floor plans, and manage mopping settings. The X40 can also track its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to maintain and comes with numerous features that make it an excellent option for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads and refill them with cleaning solution and fresh water. It also can detect when the mop pad is filled and notify you when it gets overflowing, reducing the requirement for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. However, it has several features that make it stand out. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub. It utilizes two mops that are high-speed to scrub floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it comes with the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is much higher than that of the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can remove pet hair and small dirt particles - as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is cleaned and dried at the base station every time they are used. This is a great feature as it stops the build-up of mould and unpleasant odours in storage, and it also makes mop systems more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen in other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home cleaner longer.

There's a wealth of settings available that include the ability to schedule cleaning and adjust a variety of preferences. These settings can be adjusted via the app or buttons that can be found on the unit itself. The app is simple to use and provides a number of options for customizing your cleaning routine. It also has a number of features that aren't offered on other robots, like the Clean Genius Mode, which automatically increases suction whenever it detects dust particles.

The L20 Ultra is also one of the most fashionable robots we've seen on market, with metallic and white design that looks classy and sophisticated. It's a little heavier than the other two-in-one robots on this list - at around 4kg but it's not too heavy, and feels robust and well built. The mopping design is also excellent and the double-rotating mops work well on hard floors and in corners. The MopExtend feature lets them reach up to 2mm below baseboards.
